MOBILE COMPUTING ~ Computer and Internet Tips

Hi all, we meet again 🙂 this time I will discuss about Mobile Computing. Maybe some of you have heard of it but don’t know what it means.

come on let’s see….

* Definition of Mobile Computing

Mobile computing is a set of objects or technology that has sophisticated technology which is often referred to as mobile computer (portablecomputer) and able to communicate with the network without wires (wireless) even though the user or users of the device are moving.

* Types of Mobile Computing

  • ·PDA (Personal Digital Assistant)

Electronic communication devices that can be carried around and do not need cables to connect computer networks. In other words, a smartphone is a miniature computer with the capabilities of a cell phone. Generally, there are two smartphone networks, namely GSM (Global System for Mobile Telecommunications) and CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access). Carputer Computing devices that can be installed in the car. Usually used for DVD players, GPS, loudspeakers and Bluetooth.

* Advantages of Mobile Computing

  • Extreme Personalization

That is, mobile computing has become a very important item for people. This is likened to a cell phone sentence between a wallet and a motorbike key, which means that a cell phone, which is a mobile computer, is as important as a wallet and motorbike keys. Because of its importance, mobile computers are often used to store all personal information.

  • Accessing information anytime and anywhere

With its portable nature or can be carried anywhere and when supported by an internet connection, a mobile computer can be used for work, online shopping, or playing anywhere and anytime. Of course this is very pampering mobile computer users.

  • Highly compatible with other technologies

With its sophistication, mobile computers are compatible with other technologies, so that mobile computers can take advantage of other technologies for the convenience of the user.

  • Suitable for areas that do not yet have infrastructure.

* Weaknesses of Mobile Computing

Internet access on equipment is generally slower than a wired connection, using technologies such as GPRS, EDGE and 3G networks. High-speed wireless LANs are inexpensive, but have a very limited range.

When portable generators are not available, mobile computers must rely entirely on battery power. That is, expensive batteries must be used for the required battery life.

Factors that cause signal interference in mobile computing such as weather, the distance of the mobile computing device to the nearest signal transmitter point. In addition, signal reception in tunnels, in some buildings and in rural areas is often poor.

  • Potential for Accidents

Many vehicle accidents, both cars and motorbikes, are often caused by drivers who use mobile while driving. In addition, prolonged use of mobile phones can cause health problems.

  • User Interface with Tools

The keyboard screen that tends to be small makes the device difficult to use. Alternative inputs such as voice input or handwriting recognition require training to use them.

Laptop or notebook is a mobile computer that is relatively small in size, weighing between 1-6 kg. The function of a laptop is almost the same as a desktop computer, only the size is reduced. Most laptops use an LCD whose size is between 10-17 inches. The main characteristics of laptops are their small size, easy to carry anywhere and energy saving. Because of the many advantages that laptops have, the price of laptops is relatively more expensive than desktop computers.

A computer-based electronic device that can be taken anywhere. The hallmark of a PDA is a touchscreen. Initially used for self-organization, but over time the use of PDAs has increased, including sending e-mail, internet access, games, using GPS, video recording and wireless networks.

Alright, above is a description of Mobile Computing. Hopefully this post can add to your knowledge. Thank you 🙂
